  • The Reverend Jason Cox, Rector

Jason has served as rector of St. Luke's since December 2019. Before coming to St. Luke's, Jason served as Senior Associate Rector at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.

After studying music in college, Jason spent a year with AmeriCorps in the Episcopal Urban Intern Program (EUIP) in Los Angeles, working with the homeless in a transitional housing facility on L.A.’s skid row. This transformational experience helped Jason discern a call to ordained ministry, and after studying at Virginia Theological Seminary, he returned to Los Angeles as the program director of EUIP (now Jubilee Year LA).

Jason writes, "My ministry is focussed on building strong, connected faith communities equipped to make a difference in the world. I believe Jesus calls us to expand God’s reign of justice and peace for all people. The worship, community building, and faith formation we do at church should send us out to work for God’s vision of a world transformed by love."

  • Joy-LeiLani Garbutt, Director of Music

Joy-Leilani comes to St. Luke’s from Washington, D.C. where she served as Minister of Music for Christ Lutheran Church. She has studied at Northwestern University, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and is currently a PhD candidate in musicology and sacred music at the Catholic University of America. Her research is focused on rediscovering organ music by French female composers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

In the spring of 2018 Joy-Leilani co-founded the Boulanger Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting music composed by women through performance, education, commissions, and advocacy.

  • The Reverend Mike Reddig, Priest Associate

Born and raised in the Midwest (North Dakota), Mike joined the Air Force after undergraduate school at the University of Jamestown. In the Air Force Mike managed customer service operations (dining/lodging/recreation/shopping/mortuary affairs) at base command, and finally at the Pentagon level, from where he retired in 1996.

After the Air Force, Mike taught school in suburban Washington for a couple of years before attending Virginia Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 2002, and served churches on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. He retired again in 2012 and moved with his wife Judith to San Francisco to be near their two children and their spouses.

Per Reverend Mike, "I’m grateful to be associated with such a vibrant congregation with such a rich history. It’s a pleasure to be able to sing in the choir with Steve and the rest of the St. Luke’s musicians, and I've really enjoyed getting to know the good people of St. Luke’s."

  • Birgit Jacobsen, Parish Administrator

Long-time parishioner and friend of the parish, Birgit Jacobsen, became our Parish Administrator in December of 2014.  Birgit had devoted her career to running her own business as a designer and decorator (she painted the stars above St. Luke's high altar in the chancel and redesigned the Trinity Chapel to name just two projects) and in 2014 decided to turn her volunteer work for the church into a ministry.  One cannot "work" in the church without it becoming a calling.  Birgit is a valued member of our staff, committed to the success and ongoing operation of St. Luke's Parish.
